Millennium Gallery Stainless Steel Comic

Stainless Steel 1913 is a CDrom comic book with a narrative that blends historical facts to mark the centenary of the invention of stainless steel with steampunk style fiction and introduces a new British Superhero

The CDromis packaged in a slimline DVD case with a full wrap around cover is now available priced £2,50 from Sheffield Museums, Millennium Gallery Shop.

The comic is on sale in support of the excellent exhibition related to the anniversary of stainless steel at the gallery and includes many of the historical figures.


Harry Brearley, the inventor of the new metallic alloy, Thomas Ward Sheffield's Master Cutler in 1913, Harry Tudor and his Bostock CIrcus and there's even a cameo by the Lizzie, Sheffield's famous elephant.

This steampunk action comic is perfectly placed and ready for further centenary issues as the World War breaks out in 1914 and aimed at adult readers and is suitable for those 13 and above.

Stainless Steel 1913 is the origin story of a WWI Superhero and a new metallic alloy created by Harry Brearley in Sheffield, England.  The narrative reflects the spirit of the age as storm clouds gather over Europe in this 32 page sepia (1913 scenes) and colour (2013 scenes) action packed comic book that continues the centenary celebrations with a story that blends historical fact with steampunk science fiction.

Sheffield is currently marking the centenary of the invention of stainless steel by Harry Brearley in many of its museums and galleries and the £2.50 CDrom version of this comic book will be available locally at all the usual Sheffield retail shops by Monday 13th May 2013.

Sheffield Jungle in 1913

Stainless Steel is about to start going live on the download websites listed below and like all CDComics titles, it is a blend of historical fact and this time steampunk science fiction.

This is a steampunk action adventure comic that celebrates the invention of stainless steel in Sheffield and is set firmly in the real world, just one year before the outbreak of WWI.




Sheffield in 1913 had a resident circus that was known locally as the Jungle and part of the narrative unfolds at that location, so here's a poster marking the last ever show put on by the Bostock Circus.

Stainless Steel 1913 is a Steampunk action and adventure narrative that blends science fiction with science fact and also marks the 100th year anniversary of the invention of stainless steel.


The comic also introduces several original character from CDComics and the second issue Stainless Steel 1914: War, is already being outlined for release and will mark another 100th year anniversary.
